During this edition, the <strong>Laval Virtual Awards<\/strong> once again awarded the best immersive projects of the year. Let&rsquo;s look back at the winners.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The best virtual reality projects of the year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every year since its creation in 1999, the Laval Virtual event has been rewarded many projects. The Laval Virtual Awards were created to highlight <strong>the best virtual and augmented reality applications<\/strong> and their creators. Hundreds of projects have already received a prize, leading to international visibility.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2022, 23 projects were selected among hundreds of applications, and judged by an exceptional jury with <strong>immersive tech experts<\/strong>: <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Simon RICHIR &ndash; Professor, PhD and Engineer &ndash; ENSAM (Arts &amp; M&eacute;tiers)<\/li><li>Thierry BENOIST &ndash; Lab Manager &ndash; European Commission<\/li><li>St&eacute;phane BOUCHARD &ndash; PhD and Docteur and Canada Research Chairman in Clinical Cyberpsychology<\/li><li>Alok NANDI &ndash; Creative Director \/ Interaction Designer &ndash; Architempo \/ Spread Design<\/li><li>Othman CHIHEB &ndash; Product Marketing Lead &ndash; Microsoft&nbsp;<\/li><li>and 13 other players of the field.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8 virtual reality projects awarded<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Healthcare &ndash; Diva (Institut Pasteur, CNRS, Institut Prairie, Universit&eacute; de Paris)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diva is a medical analysis solution, mixing <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Machine learning is an advanced form of artificial intelligence, where the machine can understand, react and make predictions.&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/blog.laval-virtual.com\/en\/glossary\/machine-learning\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>machine learning<\/a> and human interaction. <strong>With 3D imaging and virtual reality<\/strong>, complex images can be easily decrypted. Users can watch, manipulate and measure stocks of images. Diva makes existing tasks more efficient and <strong>precise the doctor&rsquo;s diagnosis<\/strong>, thanks to better knowledge of the patients&rsquo; disease.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entertainment &amp; Medias &ndash; JumpersVR (Delusion)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JumpersVR is a hyper-realistic <strong>virtual reality escape game<\/strong>, born after 2 years of hard work. In a 600 square connected 4D room, from 2 to 4 players play simultaneously. Together, they must find clues, solve riddles, avoid traps and complete a mission within a 50-minute limited time. Players can expect more than 80 different interactions and 5 environments with steampunk vibes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Education &amp; Learning Content &ndash; RAFA (Polyaero)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RAFA is a <strong>training solution<\/strong> for the aeronautical field. It was conceived by Polyaero which was already nominated in the ReVolution #Research category in 2021. This time, the training center received a Laval Virtual Award for its solution that disrupts learning in the <strong>aeronautics sector<\/strong>. With the training, students can experience 3D assistance for production and maintenance operations, as well as use augmented reality in class.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Services &ndash; Holoportation (Holoforge Interactive by Asobo Studio)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2019, Holoforge received a prize for its <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Mixed reality allows to integrate 3D objects into the real world in the form of interactive holograms. It&amp;#039;s more immersive than augmented reality.&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/blog.laval-virtual.com\/en\/glossary\/mixed-reality\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>mixed reality<\/a> solution around the model of the Mont Saint-Michel. The 2022 year is also successful for Holoforge, awarded for its Holoportation project. Holoportation uses 3D capture technology and volumetry to <strong>create holograms<\/strong> of people and broadcast them anywhere. The tool captures the person <strong>in real-time<\/strong> and send his\/her visible image through an augmented reality headset. The solution aims at put back the nonverbal communication in remote conversations.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Discover Holoportation by HoloForge\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HBHc_sGZeEk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VR for a Cause &ndash; &Eacute;ternelle Notre-Dame (Emissive)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>cathedral of Paris<\/strong> has inspired many immersive experiences, from the daily life of the rector-archbishop to the post-fire rebuilding in 2019. &Eacute;ternelle Notre-Dame is a <strong>new virtual reality experience<\/strong> that places you at the heart of the Paris cathedral and tells its story. In a 5300 square space, 850 users can live simultaneously this massive experience. It took 2 years of development, 25 virtual reality experts and 5 history references to conceive this project.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Industry &ndash; EGCERSIS (IMT Mines Albi)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The EGCERSIs project makes good use of digital twin technology and <strong>virtual reality for decision-making<\/strong> in a crisis context. The goal is to provide a training and preparation field for crisis management in critical places. A <strong>digital twin<\/strong> of the space is created, in which the trainees follow a dynamic scenario and have to take the right decisions to intervene. With virtual reality, the monitoring phase is more complete than with a real simulation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Virtual worlds &ndash; Virbe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Virbe is a chatbot alternative and generator of <strong>interactive avatars<\/strong>. Users can interact with gestures of their voice. The solution can be deployed on websites, in virtual worlds, on mobile or in physical locations. <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.laval-virtual.com\/en\/the-new-age-of-virtual-humans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">These avatars may be the future<\/a> representative of your services or the voice of your brand on social media. You are facing <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Artifical intelligence is a set of computing systems programmed to reproduce human intelligence.&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/blog.laval-virtual.com\/en\/glossary\/artificial-intelligence\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>artificial intelligence<\/a>, local players or worldwide online players. King Pong is much more than a <strong>virtual<\/strong> <strong>reality ping-pong game<\/strong>. Throwing the ball is not the most difficult part (it always stays o,n the table !). You must resist the many special strikes and effects provoked by the opponent.
