HRV Simulation specialises in virtual reality, haptic technology and simulation for healthcare. The French company has developed a number of medical simulation solutions and software, including a dental surgery training simulator and a medical bicycle for virtual rides. The team will be at Laval Virtual on April 10-12, 2024, on booth B37.

Can you introduce your company?

HRV Simulation uses Virtual Reality technologies to develop solutions for the healthcare sector. We have developed different products and we communicate under three brands for three different markets:

  • Virteasy: Virteasy Dental is a dental surgery training simulator for learning by performing virtual surgery on a virtual patient. Our customers are dental universities around the world since 2015.
  • Nawo: Nawo is ergonomic analysis software that uses motion capture technologies (with or without sensors) to prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Our customers have been manufacturers all over the world since 2017.
  • Cottos: Cycléo de Cottos is a virtual bike for seniors that provides a fun experience of Adapted Physical Activity (APA) and cognitive stimulation. Since 2022, our customers have included independent living facilities, senior residences and nursing homes in France.

What will your company show at Laval Virtual 2024?

All our products and solutions will be presented on our booth. We will also be talking about our research partnerships with LAMPA (a laboratory at Arts & Métiers in Laval) and LIUM (a computer science laboratory at the University of Le Mans), as well as current R&D projects such as Malaumain, a regional PIA (Future Investment Programme) project to assess the risks of MSD in the hands.

What is your company’s current innovation?

The innovation we want to highlight is the Cycléo bike, an interactive virtual bike for senior citizens. This device provides fun, adapted physical activity (APA). Using Virtual Reality technologies, this platform offers a unique experience of physical and cognitive stimulation that is unrivalled for ageing well and staying in shape.

What innovation do you think has most transformed the world of VR/AR?

It’s difficult to name one innovation in particular. It’s the progress of all the VR/AR technologies simultaneously, in conjunction with AI, that enables us to offer new innovative solutions. For example, under our Nawo brand, the contribution of AI to 3D reconstruction of the human body, without sensors, is a factor in simplifying and democratising this technology to help with ergonomic analysis of a workstation.

The baseline of our 26th edition is “Act For The Future”. In your opinion, how can immersive technologies impact the world of tomorrow?

Immersive technologies represent an incomparable lever to help training. This is the case, for example, with our Virteasy Dental product in the field of dental surgery. Historical apprenticeship is helped by the contribution of immersive technologies, which enable learners to be exposed to different clinical cases and the teacher to monitor student progress.
