Founded in 2024, Sandora is a startup offering cultural immersive experiences to enhance French heritage. Its creations cover a wide range of topics, including art, science, the environment and history. At Laval Virtual, the Sandora team presents its new virtual reality experience, retracing the history of Napoleon. See you April 9-11, 2025 at Europe’s leading VR/AR trade exhibition.
Can you tell us more about your company?
Sandora is a startup that creates and distributes immersive cultural experiences in virtual reality. Founded in January 2024 with Marin de Saint Chamas, our goal is to make culture accessible to everyone by showcasing historical, scientific, artistic, and environmental heritage through unique and captivating storytelling. With one in two people in France unaware of the date of the French Revolution, we have made it our mission to make learning history more engaging by crafting experiences that leave a lasting impact.
What will you exhibit at Laval Virtual?
At Laval Virtual exhibition, we are thrilled to present our latest creation: “Napoleon, The Immersive Epic”, a collective and ambulatory experience in virtual reality retracing the key moments of the First Empire. Napoléon tells his memoirs to the visitors who see the scenes around them come to life: Austerlitz’s battlefields, construction of Paris’ great monuments, the travel to Sainte-Hélène… It’s a journey back in time! This 30-minute experience takes place in 60m² spaces, where 10 visitors can wander through the scenes at the same time.
Are you planning any activities or demos at your booth?
Yes, we’ll have HTC Vive headsets to show extracts to visitors. The size of the booth doesn’t allow wandering around, but visitors can discover the scenes of our experience and have a taste of the complete version. Original music scores were created for the experience to fully immerse visitors in this Napoleonic epic.
What project are you currently working on?
We are currently opening our first experience “Napoleon, the Immersive Epic” to a public audience. After 18 months of work with a scientific committee to guarantee historic authenticity of the experience, we are happy to finally show it to the public! The first inauguration took place successfully at the Musée Royale de l’Armée in Brussels in mid-February, and the experience will be available during 3 months in the Galeries Montparnasse in Paris from March 27.
How is your solution transforming your business field?
We want to revolutionize the way culture is transmitted, thanks to our immersive virtual reality experiences. We are transforming learning into a fun, captivating and educative adventure, making historic events and characters accessible and alive for all the generations.
Sustainability and the environment are key topics of this century. How do you cope with these concerns in your XR technologies?
Our ambition is to deploy our experience widely in France and abroad, so that visitors can easily access an exhibition area without going to Paris. Limiting travels and headset purchases seems important to reduce our environmental impact. Agility is one of our strengths: demonstration areas can be built very quickly and require very little equipment.
