The GALA conference gathers researchers and actors from the teaching field.

At the occasion of the 9th edition on December 9-10th, the GALA conference will gather researches, developers and practitioners to share their researches, analyze the most oustanding trends and discuss different vision on the future of “serious games”.
The GAMES AND LEARNING ALLIANCE (GALA) CONFERENCE is dedicated to science and application of Serious Games. This conference aims at gathering researchers in Computer Science and Human and Social Sciences, practitioners and players from the teaching sector.
The conference is supported by the learned society Serious Games Society which publishes, in addition, the International Journal of Serious Games.
The LIUM (Computer Laboratory of the University of Le Mans) was selected to organize the 9th edition of this event. We are researchers at the IUT of Laval, which is part of the University of Le Mans. The LIUM is one the biggest research laboratory in France dedicated to digital tools for education and learning. We work on Serious Games and innovative Human-Machine interactions such as Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality.
Thanks to our partnership with Laval Virtual, we have the chance to organise this event online, in the Laval Virtual World on 9-10 December 2020. The registration is free.
The conference is composed of 3 parts:
A scientific symposium, with 37 presentations of original works, including 2 keynotes : Anna Cox, professor at the UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC) and Anne-Gwenn Bosser, researcher at the CERV (European Centre for Virtual Reality).
A virtual exhibition, during which 15 international researchers and 15 French companies will present their Serious Games or Virtual Reality tools
An international competition that rewards the three best Serious Games of the year.
To highlight local skills, the theme of this edition is Serious Games in Virtual Reality.
