In response to the evolution of the industrial market and the resulting complex situations, PTC helps companies overcome complex situations by giving them the “power to create”. Thanks to innovative solutions, PTC is a technical partner for the acceleration of their digital transformation, using several technologies. PTC will be exhibiting at Laval Virtual on April 12-14, 2023, at booth B41. Interview with Guillaume Taccoen, Vuforia Business France Manager.
Can you present your company?
PTC is a global software company that provides solutions and technology platforms to help industrial companies transform the way they design, manufacture, operate and maintain their products in a smart, connected world.
As a pioneer of digital 3D design and PLM (Product Life Management) on the Internet, and today a leader in technologies dedicated to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Augmented Reality (AR), our portfolio of solutions is built around 6 platforms: Creo, CAD software solutions for 3D modeling; Windchill, a web-based platform for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM); Codebeamer, a collaborative platform for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM); ThingWorx, an Industrial IoT platform for data orchestration; Vuforia for creating augmented reality experiences; and Onshape, a SaaS-based product development platform.
The combination of all these technologies enables manufacturers worldwide to ensure digital continuity, create value for themselves and their customers and accelerate their return on investment.
What will you exhibit at Laval Virtual 2023?
We will be present again at the show, presenting the new Vuforia products including the launch of Stepcheck, an artificial intelligence-based solution for technical inspection operations. Vuforia’s evolutions are always highly anticipated by the industry, and we will be happy to share them in detail!
Laval Virtual is celebrating its 25th edition this year. Do you have any memories to share since the first edition in 1999?
Laval Virtual is an event that has established itself on an international scale and federated an entire ecosystem. In addition to presenting the latest technological innovations, the exhibition also offers an increasing number of concrete applications that put industrial needs and problems at the center of discussions!
The world of immersive tech was shaken up by the rise of the Metaverse and virtual worlds. What is your opinion on these?
The metaverse and virtual worlds have immense potential: they will offer an infinite range of possibilities to consumers and businesses alike. In the industry, to be able to exploit them, it is essential to establish a strategy based on a roadmap of progressive steps with returns on investment all along the way, and especially on the very first steps.
How do you see the VR world in 10 years?
The augmented reality market is constantly evolving. In the industry, we can expect that in 10 years, use cases will have been deployed on a large scale. The focus is often on the evolution of hardware and technologies in general. While this is certainly an important point, it must be overshadowed very quickly by the need to professionalize the methodologies for industrializing these technologies. This is the main challenge of the sector today.
