Expert in digital learning and software solution provider, Speedernet has conducted more than 3,000 projects in the field of immersive training. Speedernet helps all companies wishing to digitalize their professional training process. Speedernet is exhibiting at Laval Virtual on April 12-14, 2023, on booth A32. Interview with Yves Bonis, Communication Manager.
Can you present your company?
At Speedernet we describe ourselves as “the digital learning family” because, whatever work we undertake as a digital learning studio, in training engineering or in the development of our software (Speedernet Sphere the immersive solution and Sparks the innovative LMS), we put the human link at the center of everything! And this is what has made the difference since 1999.
What will you exhibit at Laval Virtual 2023?
At Laval Virtual 2023, we will present two important elements. The first is the upcoming launch of the first MOOC “Awareness of immersive educational design”. A MOOC on immersive learning with a multi-user environment!
The second event is the latest release of Speedernet Sphere. The latest iteration of our immersive content creation software allows you to create your content in VR with even more interactivity and in an increasingly intuitive way. For example, its features allow you to challenge your learners by placing hidden elements in your 360/3D environments that are only revealed when hovering.
You can also place interface or narrative elements that follow the user’s gaze, whether he or she is wearing a headset or on a screen, for ever more engaging learning scenarios. And why not introduce a temporal element in your immersive experiences by timing the user or with a time countdown to complete a quiz, an action or a set of tasks. This is another way of posing challenges in onboarding or in the context of security training, for example.
The possibilities extend with each new version of Speedernet Sphere to allow you to enrich your experiences, make the most of immersion and offer ever more effective training to your learners.
Laval Virtual is celebrating its 25th edition this year. Do you have any memories to share since the first edition in 1999?
So many things to tell, so many great people we met on the 4 editions we were present at Laval Virtual. Most of these memories must remain between the participants. We will keep in our hearts the little boat ride of the remote version of the show that made us laugh a lot!
The world of immersive tech was shaken up by the rise of the Metaverse and virtual worlds. What is your opinion on these?
The launch of our MOOC offering a multi-user environment clearly shows our position on all this. Yes, they have a future, yes they are interesting but yes, it is important to be humble and to build together the uses that will make these tools really useful.
With our MOOC, we are trying to participate in this movement because we believe that immersive learning will give a tremendous boost to adaptive learning and offer new collaborative ways to create inclusive and efficient learning paths.
How do you see the VR world in 10 years?
We obviously see a wide use in entertainment as well as in the working world. Will it replace human relationships? No, of course not. But as technologies advance (AI, hardware, etc.) and uses multiply, VR will become as obvious a tool as any other for training, coaching, experimenting and creating.
We can also hope that technical evolutions will allow us to create ways to consume content that are energy efficient, made with simple materials and with controlled life cycles… In any case, the immediate future looks exciting!
