Microsoft is a historical partner of Laval Virtual. The Microsoft HoloLens team and its village of partners will be present at the 25th edition of the international event dedicated to immersive technologies. This booth will highlight different customer use cases that have gone to scale with the HoloLens 2 mixed reality headset. Each of the partners will offer an exclusive demo for visitors to try, which has already been used by customers. Presentation with Othman Chiheb, Product Marketing Lead at Microsoft, and the eleven partners.
Industry at the heart of HoloLens applications
Among the partners present and the demos presented, half of them concern the industrial sector. Six partners propose use cases for production and maintenance assistance or data visualization. “Spectral TMS has designed a simple solution to digitize maintenance and procedure,” explains Maxence Boucas, co-founder. The company quickly saw positive results following the integration of augmented reality in the daily life of its operators: 33% reduction in training time and 80% reduction in companion time.
These results are visible in many of Microsoft’s partners. Indeed, Theoris has recorded production time savings of more than 30% for its customers. Its OmniStep solution uses hologram technology to facilitate complex assembly and inspection procedures. “Our customers have seen a significant increase in the ability of operators to do the job right the first time,” confirms Fabrice Malaingre, Head of XR.
Other partners attending with a solution for industry include:
- PTC, which offers design, collaboration, maintenance, monitoring and visualization solutions for industry;
- Sopra Steria, one of Europe’s leading tech companies, which will showcase its “industrial metaverse” used by Airbus and the French Ministry of the Army;
- Prodware, which offers a 360° digital transformation of companies with consulting, financial management, collaborative tools, artificial intelligence, etc;
- Capgemini, a world leader in engineering and R&D services, which will present its industrial digital twin and its immersive remote assistance platform.
Mixed reality, a proven technology for professional training
Three partners will be present at the Microsoft booth with their training solutions for companies. First, Synergiz, a key player in mixed reality with HoloLens. The company will be showcasing its Synergiz Harbor solution at the event, which enables 3D project deployment and real-time collaboration. Customers using this immersive tool are seeing reduced costs, improved collaboration and better team understanding. “The use cases our partners present at Laval Virtual are not at the project stage. They are concrete cases with convincing results,” says Othman Chiheb.
Insight, a company with 33 years of experience and expertise in IT, offers training solutions in several sectors: health, education, industry and even fashion. Here too, its clients have noticed cost savings, with a 70% reduction in travel budgets and a 65% reduction in physical prototypes. “At Microsoft, we are very pleased with these figures, which show that our partners’ customers have real ROI.”
Finally, HoloForge Interactive, considered the pioneer of mixed reality, will be present with a demonstration of training in the nuclear industry. Its client, Framatome, an international player in the nuclear industry, uses the HoloLens headset to train its operators working at the bottom of a nuclear fuel pool. “The use of mixed reality is particularly well suited to dangerous and risky sectors such as nuclear,” says co-founder Sébastien Wloch.
Towards a new form of immersive communication
The visit of Microsoft’s partners is also an opportunity to show various uses of mixed reality. Three of the partners will present case studies on communication and events. HoloForge Interactive, in addition to its training for the nuclear sector, will test a cultural experience around the icon Josephine Baker. The experience is still in the prototype stage, and will be presented for the first time at Laval Virtual.
Conseil 3D, a company specializing in immersive and interactive technologies, will present its HoloLive solution. The principle is to generate holograms of products to show them to the public during an event or to its team during a videoconference. “Thanks to HoloLive, we observe a better understanding of products and a 30% increase in customer satisfaction,” says Paul Lepicard, founder.
All Virtual has designed a similar solution, but more for the industrial sector. Called “Scene”, All Virtual’s tool allows to show but also to interact with the hologram. It is possible to present complex processes within a factory or to demonstrate the use of a machine.
Finally, with its village, Microsoft intends to show the potential and prove the effectiveness of mixed reality in the professional sector. The demonstrations of the 11 partners can be tested at booth B41 during the Laval Virtual show from April 12 to 14, 2023.
